HAVERFORD, PA – Visiting Johns Hopkins
held Haverford to just 15 second half points en route to a 68-38
victory Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's basketball
action. The Blue Jays improve to 12-7 overall and 10-4 in Centennial
play, while Haverford falls to 4-15 and 3-11.
Haverford jumped out to a 16-8 lead over the the first 7:44 of play.
Hopkins rallied the rest of the first half and went into the halftime
intermission with a 27-23 advantage. The Blue Jays carried their
momentum from the first half into the second, flying to the 68-38
win.
Haverford sophomore center Natalie Richman had a team-high 11 points
while sophomore guard Kathleen Abels dished out a game-high five
assists. Sophomore forward Brittany Lattisaw and Abels each grabbed
a team-high six rebounds.
Hopkins was led by Kristen Phillips game-high 18 points and nine
rebounds.
The Blue Jays out rebounded the Fords by a 48-37 margin. Haverford
shot 27.1% from the floor and 7.7% (1-of-13) from beyond the arc
in the game. The Fords only shot 33.3% (5-of-15) from the charity
stripe. Johns Hopkins shot 44.3% from the field in the game and
51.6% in the second half.
Haverford travels to Centennial opponent Washington College on Tuesday
for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
