Gettysburg Bests Haverford, 73-64;
Scattergood Scores Game-High 18 Points in Loss
HAVERFORD, PA - Senior guard Abby Scattergood scored a game-high 18
points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds, but it was not
enough as visiting Gettysburg bested Haverford, 73-64, Saturday afternoon
in Centennial Conference women's basketball action. The Fords go into
the winter break with a 2-5 overall record, and a 1-3 mark in Centennial
play, while the Bullets improves to 6-3 and 4-1.
Gettysburg jumped out to a ten point halftime lead, with Margaret
White leading the Bullets with ten points in the first half. The Bullets
held the Fords to 23.3% shooting from the floor in the opening half,
while shooting 43% from the field.
Gettysburg went up as much as 15 early in the second half before Scattergood
cut the lead back down to 12 after hitting a three-pointer off a pass
from sophomore guard Lindsay Festa. Haverford stayed right with the
Bullets throughout the second half, but the ten point first half deficit
was too much to overcome, as Gettysburg was able to control the flow
of the game en route to the 73-64 win.
Haverford also got 15 points from sophomore guard Kathleen Abels and
ten points from Festa in the losing effort. Sophomore forward Brittany
Lattisaw added nine points and five rebounds in the loss.
Gettysburg was led by Allie Drechsler's 16 points. The Bullets got
13 points each from White, Courtney Fields, and Katie Reilly.
Gettysburg shot 45% from the floor in the game, while the Fords connected
on 30% of its field goal attempts. Haverford out rebounded Gettysburg
by a 41-38 margin, but committed 21 turnovers to the Bullets 16.
Haverford will return to action on January 2nd at the California Lutheran
Invitational Tournament.
