BETHLEHEM, PA - Senior outfielder Ben Einbinder
went 2-for-4 at the plate with a game-high four runs batted to help
lead visiting Haverford past non-conference opponent Moravian, 15-6
Wednesday afternoon. Haverford put together four innings of at least
two runs en route to the victory. Haverford improves to 9-4 overall
with the win while Moravian dips to 6-7.
The Fords plated two runs in the top of the first inning and scored
five more times in the second to open the game with a 7-0 lead. Haverford's
five-run second inning was highlighted by RBI singles off the bats
of sophomores Jamie Hollowell and Dean Laganosky. The Fords would
tack on one more run in the third and two more in the fourth to make
the game 10-0. The Greyhounds pulled within 11-6 after eight innings
of play, but the Fords put the game out of reach with four more runs
in the top of the ninth, highlighted by a two-run single by freshman
Jake Kaden, en route to the 15-6 win.
Laganosky reached base four times in the game with three walks, a
single and two stolen bases along with three runs scored and a RBI.
Kaden also scored three runs and had two hits along with his two runs
batted in. Senior third baseman Ryan Stephens finished 2-for-4 at
the plate while junior Steve Andelman went 2-for-3 with two runs scored
and a RBI. Hollowell also added two hits with an RBI and a run scored.
Senior pitcher Donny Poster earned the win on the mound tossing five
innings, striking out five Moravian batters while allowing two earned
runs. Seniors Nick Stephens, Nat Ballenberg and Justin Marlowe along
with freshman Ben Regan-Sachs each pitched one inning on the mound
in relief to close out the game.
Haverford will look to tie up the season series at home Friday at
3:30 p.m. against Muhlenberg. The Mules upset the Fords, 6-5, on Tuesday
in Allentown. Box Score
