Haverford Sweeps Dickinson;
Einbinder & Ryan Stephens Register Six Hits in Doubleheader
CARLISLE, PA - The Haverford baseball team swept
a pair of games from host Dickinson Saturday afternoon in Centennial
Conference action. The Fords bested the Red Devils in game one, 3-2,
and out slugged Dickinson 16-7 in game two. Haverford seniors Ben
Einbinder and Ryan Stephens registered six hits each in the doubleheader.
The Fords improve to 17-10 overall and 8-6 in Centennial play with
the wins, while Dickinson drops to 10-22 and 6-10.
Freshman pitcher Ben Regan-Sachs threw six strong innings in game
one for Haverford, allowing only one earned run on three hits to earn
his second victory of the season. Stephens drove in Haverford's first
two runs of game one with a two-RBI double in the top of the first.
Senior catcher Kenny McAlpine drove in the Fords third run of the
game on a ground out in the third inning to make the score 3-0. Dickinson
was able to cut into Haverford's lead with a run in the bottom of
the third and sixth innings, but the Fords strong pitching held the
game at 3-2 en route to the seven inning win.
Senior outfielder Ben Field and junior outfielder Steve Andelman along
with Einbinder each had a hit and a run scored in the game one win.
The Fords scored at least one run in every inning but the first for
the 16-7 win in game two. Einbinder went 5-for-6 in with a home run,
double, four runs scored and four runs batted in. Ryan Stephens also
went 5-for-6 with three runs scored, two runs batted in, a double
and a stolen base. Field contributed three hits including a triple,
two runs scored and two runs batted in, while catcher Will Stafford
went 2-for-4 at the dish with four runs batted in and a run scored.
Senior Nat Ballenberg earned his first win of the season, tossing
six strong innings on the hill.
Haverford will travel to Gettysburg on Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader.
