Alumni: Alumni Careers

Training in physics constitutes broad preparation for a variety of career options. Before he left his professorship to seek political office Representative Vernon Ehlers, the only Ph.D. physicist in the U.S. Congress, was fond of saying that physicists are omnicompetent. That might be putting it a little too strongly, but the diversity of occupations our majors have entered over the past 40 years is impressive. Here is a list, which first appeared in Physics Today.
