#4 - Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora 'Edith Bogue')

One of the showiest magnolias, this tree bears white, waxy flowers up to 1-foot across in the spring, followed by cone-like fruits with flame-red seeds in the fall. Marginally hardy in our area, the cultivar Edith Bogue will thrive if planted in a protected area. The dark green leaves remain on the tree year-round.
