What is Haverford's Annual Fund?

Haverford's Annual Fund (annual giving) provides unrestricted support for the operating budget that funds and helps "jump-start" current campus priorities. A healthy Annual Fund program allows the College to remain flexible in addressing current needs without sacrificing the Haverford experience.

Why is the Annual Fund especially important during challenging economic times?

The Annual Fund is called upon to help balance the budget when endowment income decreases.

This "living endowment" allows Haverford to respond to the need for increased financial aid, provided funding to enhance the academic program and size of the faculty, and supports today's students as they prepare for lives of global citizenship.

What is the alumni participation rate?

The alumni participation rate is the percentage of alumni who give to the Annual Fund in a fiscal year. This figure is used by College ranking guides, as well as corporations and foundations to determine alumni satisfaction with an institution. Donors can make gifts of any size to the Annual Fund to be counted in the alumni participation rate.

Last year’s participation rate was 49% - down from 52% in fiscal year 2006-2007. This year, our goal is to return to 52%.

What is the purpose of the Preview Report of Gifts?

The purpose of the Preview Report of Gifts is to say "Thank You" to the donors who have already given to the College this year, to give donors the opportunity to review the lists that will be printed in next fall's Report of Gifts, and to encourage others to show their support for Haverford.

What is The 1833 Society?

The 1833 Society is Haverford's leadership giving society designed to recognize and steward donors who give $1,833 or more to the Annual Fund in a fiscal year. Alumni in the classes of 2000-2004 can join for $750, alumni in the classes of 2005-2008 can join for $250, and graduates of the class of 2009 can join for $100.
