Haverford College Alumni of Color Weekend
November 5-7, 2004

"Moving Forward"
An exploration of past, present, and future experiences

Dear Haverford Alumni,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the first annual Haverford College Alumni of Color Weekend, November 5-7, 2004. We hope that you will be part of these historic two days of recognition, discussion, entertainment, and fellowship. The weekend will provide an opportunity to advance communication among fellow alumni of color, students, faculty and friends, through a variety of planned activities.

There have been many changes at the College. While we now boast the new, state of the art, Marion E. Koshland Integrated Natural Science Center, and the Douglas B. Gardner Integrated Athletic Center on its way to completion by 2005-06 basketball season; the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) has also added a new addition. OMA Ambassadors, the newest members to the Customs team, are helping to promote and sustain dialogue amongst freshmen and the entire community on issues of diversity within and beyond Haverford.

The College’s commitment to diversity is part of its foundation. In the words of a Vietnamese proverb, “When eating fruit, think of the person who planted the tree.” The Haverford of today would not have been possible without you. It’s time to reconnect with an institution that recognizes you as a cherished member of its past, present and future community.

The weekend is sponsored by:
The Office of External Relations The Office of Multicultural Affairs
Alliance of Latin American Students (ALAS) Asian Students Association (ASA)
Black Students League (BSL) Caribbean Essence Organization (CEO)
Haverford Alliance for Diversity and Unity (HADU) International Students Association (ISA)
Muslim Students Association (MSA) South Asian Society (SAS)
Under One Sky (Association of Multiracial Students) Women of Color

If you have any questions, please contact Sandra Johnson, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at 610-896-1143 or sjohnson@haverford.edu
