Campus Visits
There's no better way to get a feel for college than by visiting, particularly while school is in sessionDuring various times of the year Haverford can offer you a student-led tour, an interview, a class visit, a trip to the bookstore and even lunch. High school seniors are welcome to stay overnight (when spots are available) and attend campus events. If you're interested in meeting a coach during your visit, you should contact a coach directly to make arrangements.
The Office of Admission is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday during the fall, winter, and spring, and from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday during the summer months (mid-May through Labor Day). We're also open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays throughout much of the fall. August and October are the busiest visit months, so you'll have a smaller tour group and an easier time scheduling an interview if you can avoid those months.
To see what is happening on campus when you visit, please access the College events calendar.

Tours
Please do not contact the Office of Admission to schedule a tour of campus; no appointment is necessary. Simply arrive by the scheduled tour time and a current student will guide you around campus. Tours leave from the Office of Admission in the Whitehead Campus Center, and are generally one hour and fifteen minutes in length. While we do offer one daily formal information session, we also have student hosts who are eager to talk with you, so please plan to arrive a few minutes early.
Class Visits
Haverford College does not offer courses during the summer months. Class visits are available weekdays from late September through April when the college is in session. No appointment is necessary. After arriving, you may select a class from a list available at our reception desk.
Interviews
If you live within 150 miles of the Haverford campus (including New York City, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.), we strongly recommend that you have an on-campus interview. Interviews are generally available beginning in the spring of your junior year through early January of your senior year. Please call (610) 896-1350 to schedule in advance; the earlier you call, the more likely a convenient interview slot will be available. As a high school senior, you may also schedule an overnight visit during certain periods of the school year; again, the earlier you contact us, the more likely a host will be available.
If you don’t live within 150 miles of campus, we still recommend that you interview on campus if you are able to visit. Otherwise, you can request an interview with an alumnus or alumna near your home. Students in New England should email Donna Murphy; students in all other locations should email Adrienne Selinger. In your email, please be sure to include your full name, date of birth, home address and phone number, the name of your high school, and the name of the nearest large city to which you would be able to travel for the interview.
Whether or not you have an interview, you may do any of the following without making a prior appointment:
- Join an hour-long campus tour given by a student tour guide.
- Attend an hour-long information session given by an Admission officer.
- Have lunch in the student dining center.
- Visit a class.
- Explore on your own schedule. Our campus is open, and you can pick up a map and self-guided tour brochure at the Admissions Office.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits can be scheduled for prospective students that are currently in their senior year of high school. We will be offering overnights in the fall from late September through early December on Monday through Thursday nights only. We ask that you try to schedule your overnight visit approximately 2 weeks in advance, and we will begin taking reservations for overnights as of September 8. Please note that we will not schedule any overnight visits the week of October 13 due to fall break and on November 26 & 27 due to Thanksgiving.
Arrangements should be made by emailing our student Overnight Coordinators, Alexa and Emily, at fordovernight@gmail.com.
To begin arrangements for your overnight, please email Alexa and Emily with the following information: name, address, email address, telephone number (with area code), gender, academic/extracurricular interests, and the date you would like to visit. Please note that we can only schedule overnight visits during weekdays, Monday through Thursday nights. Your visit will not be scheduled until after Alexa and Emily have confirmed the date and time you will arrive on campus.
Have a safe trip! We look forward to having you on campus.
