Sophie Eiger
North Wales, Pennsylvania
Eiger honed her leadership and fundraising skills as student government president at her high school and through her involvement with state and national student council organizations.
As president of her school’s Student Government Association, Sophie Eiger helped raise money to build a community center in Ivory Park, South Africa. She became involved in the Keep It! Campaign for Ivory Park through a summer workshop she attended with the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils.
The aim of the program is to teach high school student leaders how to develop their capacity to be social entrepreneurs and to have a direct impact on changing people’s lives for the better. “The campaign is important in two respects,” says Eiger. “One, to help provide a community center for a town which has limited resources and two, to demonstrate to students that they are capable of making a difference in the world.”
In her role as SGA president, Eiger also helped rebuild her school’s courtyard, initiated new fundraisers and presented fundraising workshops at leadership conferences for the National Association of Student Councils.
In addition to her involvement in student government, Eiger was a two-time captain of her high school’s soccer team. She currently plays for Haverford’s women’s varsity team.
