Viktoria Lindback
Loddekopinge, Sweden
Has won national contests with her puns, limericks and rhymes.
Since she began entering writing contests at age 12, Lindback’s talent for wordplay has earned her prizes in a half-dozen national competitions. Lindback’s puns, limericks, rhymes and slogans have won her everything from a top-brand Swedish bed to a da Vinci Code-inspired tour of Europe.
Lindback says her fascination with language and the chance to experiment with creating catchy slogans for various products and services led her to enter the contests. The first competition she won was for McDonald’s, and since then, she’s applied her writing skills to everything from Coca-Cola to a local bread maker. She’s even found a way to earn some extra cash, by selling some of her prizes to relatives or friends. “I don't know if it’s in my genes or not, but my dad actually paid his way through university by selling prizes he won back in the 80s,” Lindback says.
Lindback says the best prize came from a competition sponsored by Sony Pictures to promote the movie The da Vinci Code in 2006. For her winning limerick, Lindback earned a spot in “The da Vinci Codebreaker Tour” which traveled around Europe with 120 people from all over the world visiting key sites in the Dan Brown thriller.
