Install ePolicy Orchestrator and VirusScan for Windows

Haverford uses McAfee VirusScan 8.7i together with ePolicy Orchestrator (EPO) to minimize your risk of computer viruses.

Follow the steps below to install ACC's required anti-virus software.

Note: Due to our license agreement, you must be on-campus or have a Haverford email address to install this software.

  1. If you have Vista, turn off User Access Control (UAC) on your account.
    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
    3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
    4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off.
    5. If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User Account Control message appears. Click Continue.
    6. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box, and then click OK.
    7. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away.

  2. Download and run VirusScan 8.7i installer. Accept the default options during the install process.

If the VirusScan installer prompts you to uninstall any previously installed Anti-virus products, please let it do so.

The installer will finish with a message to reboot, allow the computer to reboot and then continue to step 2.

  3. Download the EPO Agent. After downloading, follow the instructions for your version of Windows.

On Windows XP: Simply double-click on the installer you just downloaded.

On Windows Vista: First open the containing folder (usually your "Downloads" folder). Then right-click on EPO Agent installer and select Run As Administrator.

If you had trouble with either of the above steps, please contact the Help Desk.
