Laptop Loans for Faculty

|
The Academic Computing Center, in cooperation with the Provost's
Office, has a number of Macintosh and PC laptops and other pieces of equipment
available to faculty members for short-term loans (for uses such as for college-related
travel, in-class presentations, or research needs).
Policies
- Faculty who are interested in borrowing a laptop or other
piece of equipment should submit a request form
to Academic Computing no later than two full working days before it will
be needed. ACC will then respond to the request via email, confirming the reservation
and indicating when the equipment will be available for pickup.
- A standardized assortment of ACC-supported software is
preinstalled on laptops loaned by ACC. In general, ACC will not install additional
software. Requests for additional software or custom configuration will be honored
only under special circumstances; such requests should be made to ACC no later
than one week before the laptop will be needed.
- Faculty planning to borrow equipment who need help learning
to use it should indicate this on the request form so that assistance can be scheduled.
Instruction on how to use the equipment is not necessarily available when the
equipment is picked up.
- Users who choose to install additional software on the
laptop after picking it up from ACC should also remove that software and any document
files before returning computers to ACC. Users are responsible for assuring that
the installation of any additional software on the laptop is done in a legal fashion
and is in accordance with the software's license agreement.
- Faculty and staff who borrow equipment are responsible
for returning it to ACC by the due date. Returned equipment should include all
components and accessories and should be in the same condition in which it was
picked up. If a delay in return is anticipated, the borrower should contact ACC
to request an extension before the equipment is due to be returned. (Note that,
in fairness to people who may be scheduled to borrow the equipment after you,
extensions are not always possible.)
