If you set an away message, sometimes called a vacation message, anyone sending mail to your account will get an automatic reply of your choice. Most people use some variation on the sample message below. Note that the text which appears as "$Subject" will be replaced by the subject line used by the person who sent you mail.

When you return to reading your mail, cancel the away message.

WARNING: You can not have both a forward and away message (sometimes called a vacation message) on our mail system. Setting an away message will cancel an existing forward.
