Subject: IMAP email system experiencing intermittent problems

Over the past several days, we have observed and have been attempting to resolve intermittent problems with our IMAP email server. Users accessing email via SquirrelMail, Thunderbird (configured with IMAP), or any other IMAP client may experience this problem as brief periods during which they receive error messages such as "IMAP timeout" or "cannot save message" depending on what the user is trying to do.

Users accessing mail via Eudora, Thunderbird (configured with POP) or any other POP mail client are not affected by this issue.

Since Monday (8/31) night's mail system maintenance, we have continued to work on resolving this problem and we will send additional information, once it is available. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this IMAP email server issue.
