Internet and Email Interruptions During Spring Break

The message below was originally sent to all Haverford community members on Friday, March 7th at approximately 11:00 AM.

Subject: Internet and Email Service Interruptions During Spring Break

We have scheduled two more service interruptions during spring break for testing and system upgrades. Included below is a complete list of our spring maintenance plans:

Internet Service Interruption
Monday, March 10th 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM on Monday the 10th, we will test new redundancy and failover features provided by our Internet Service Provider. Though we hope to avoid noticeable interruptions in network service, it is possible that the campus may briefly become isolated from the Internet; there may be several short interruptions while we complete our testing. On-campus resources like Storage and printers will not be impacted.

Email Service Interruption
Tuesday, March 11th at 11:00 PM through Wednesday, March 12th at 4:00 AM

During spring break, Networking and Systems will shut down the mail system while we install security updates. While we have the system down, we will take the opportunity to perform preventative disk maintenance. During the interruption, users will not be able to collect email messages from the college servers. Web based email access (emumail and squirrelmail) will be unavailable as well. Mail received during this period will be queued and delivered when mail service is restored.

Please don't forget, we previously scheduled brief service interruptions for selected buildings. For your convenience, we have included this announcement below. If you have a question or concern about the maintenance schedule, please contact your computing support liaisons.
