The complete job description and application instructions are available below.Web Developer/Administrator, Networking & Systems, College Information ResourcesDescriptionHaverford College is looking for an energetic and detail oriented Web Developer/Administrator to serve as the primary technical implementer for a team of motivated designers, editors, and publishers responsible for development and maintenance of the institution’s website. This energetic team consists of a cross section of the campus community including individuals from the Communications Office, Provost Office, Admissions Office, College Information Resources, student body, faculty, and external developers. This full-time position will report to the Director of Networking & Systems. Additional ResponsibilitiesTogether with other Networking & Systems staff, maintain a robust, stable, and secure infrastructure for the college web servers. Administer the college’s authentication infrastructure. Perform systems administration, tuning, performance analysis, security, account management functions and other maintenance tasks. Develop programs as needed to integrate, enhance, and administer the web infrastructures. Participate in web-related projects providing new services for web publishers and clients. Evaluate new and existing software products. Train and assist advanced web publishers with new technology and tools. Perform other related duties as assigned. QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field and a minimum of four years of experience in programming complex web applications and database or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Detailed knowledge and a demonstrated track record using a wide variety of programming languages and tools including Perl, PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, LDAP, Kerberos, Radius and MySQL required. Demonstrated experience building, extending, and maintaining open source software applications built on the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack. In-depth Apache and MySQL administration and configuration skills. Sophisticated Linux/UNIX system administration skills including up-to-date knowledge of operating systems and application security practices. Ability to use Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other design tools necessary to create and enhance web templates and graphics. Must be a self-motivated individual able to demonstrate a successful record of participation in large systems implementation. Must possess strong written and oral communications skills and be able to effectively lead a diverse team in a highly collaborative environment. Must be able to work well under conditions of stress and, when necessary, be available to work extended hours and occasional weekends. Vacation time may be limited during the months of August and September.
