Turning the Windows XP Firewall On and OffInformation about SP2 |
The Microsoft Service Pack 2 installs a Firewall and Pop-up Blocker on your computer. By default, Windows Firewall is enabled and is intended to block unwanted connections to your computer. While the firewall is generally recommended, in some cases you must disable it to have your computer function as desired. For example, our our automated backup program, Retrospect, does not work when the firewall is on. 1. From the Start menu, mouse over Settings and choose Network Connections.
2. Click on Change Windows Firewall Settings on the left side of the window.
3. Click the radio button for On or Off (not recommended) and click OK.
The Windows Firewall will now be set as desired. |
