Computer RepairsFaculty Office Computer Policy
|
If your computer malfunctions, Academic Computing will facilitate repairs in accordance with our policy stated below. Upon request, we will provide temporary loaner computers to faculty and academic staff whose office computers are being repaired. Faculty Office Computers The Computing Center will pay for repairs
and maintenance on the standard model for four years. If the repair is
expensive and the computer is more than three years old, then we may
choose to replace rather than repair the computer. Further, if the computer is physically damaged while in the care of the faculty member, the faculty member may be asked to bear the cost of some
repairs of the equipment. Departmentally-Owned Supported Macintosh and Windows Computers (up
to four years old) If your department purchased a system in accordance with ACCs
support policy, your department is responsible for paying for the parts
required for repair; the department is not charged for labor costs.
Computers are considered to have a four-year life cycle. The Computing
Center will generally decline to repair computers older than four years,
as the cost of the repair is often more than the value of the computer. Personally-Owned Computers The Hardware Repair Policy for Personally Owned Machines describes how you can get help for your computer when it has a hardware problem. |
