Although
most Haverford email addresses take
the form first initial followed by
last name, there are exceptions. If
you are unsure of a username, you
can look it up in the campus directory,
or you can set Eudora to use the our
"ph" server.
Web-based Directory Service
Haverford has an easy
to use web-based directory accessible from the College home page, http://www.haverford.edu.
PH Directory Service
Haverford also maintains
a PH server, providing a quick way
for Eudora users to find usernames.
However, to use this feature, you
need to configure Eudora properly.
Follow the instructions for your computer,
as the procedure is a bit different
on Windows and Macintosh systems.
Note:
Ph is only available
while physically on-campus,
or while connected to the campus
network via our dial-up
server or VPN. |
Configure in Eudora 6.2 for Windows
Go to the Tools menu and choose
Directory Services.
Before you can use Haverford's
Ph directory service your must configure
Eudora to find it:
- In the Protocols section, select
Ph and then click
the button New Database.

- Within the Modify Database
Window,
enter the following fields:
Enter Haverford
under Server Name
Enter
ph.haverford.edu next to Host
name
Make sure the port is
105
Click
OK

- Check the box next to Haverford
in the Databases window (in the
lower right hand corner of the
screen).
Use in Eudora 6.2 for Windows
After
you have configured Eudora as described
above, go to the Tools menu and choose
Directory Services.
You may now enter a search request
next to Query and click the
Start button.
Eudora will return all the username
and email addresses matching your
search request. You can enter
the person's last name or first
name. In addition, you can
enter part of a name using a *
character if you are not sure about
the spelling of a name; for example,
jon* would might return
Jones, Jonathon, and Jonas.
Configure in Eudora 6.2 for Mac
Before you can use Haverford's
Ph directory service your must configure
Eudora to find it:

Go to the Special menu and choose
Settings...
- Scroll to the Host
option and enter ph.haverford.edu
as the PH/LDAP server

- Click OK.
Use in Eudora 6.2 for Mac
After
you have configured Eudora as described
above, go to the Window
menu and select Directory
Services.
You may now enter a search request
in the Enter query box and click
the Lookup button.
Eudora will return all the username
and email addresses matching your
search request. You can enter
the person's last name or first
name. In addition, you can
enter part of a name using a *
character if you are not sure about
the spelling of a name; for example,
jon* would might return
Jones, Jonathon, and Jonas.
