Install and use VPN on your Macintosh OS X
Download
and Install VPN Client for Macintosh OS X
- You must install the correct VPN software version for your operating system. If you are not sure which version of Mac OS X you use, see About This Mac.
All VPN clients for
Mac OS X require OS X Version 10.3 or later.
- Download
the appropriate Cisco VPN client installer for your Macintosh. If you are downloading a client from off-campus, you must use your full email address to access
the software.
- Install the Cisco VPN client.
You are now ready
to connect to the campus network using VPN.
Use your Macintosh VPN Client
Software
- Verify that you are connected to your broadband network while off-campus, or
that you can get a signal from the wireless hotspot on-campus.
- Launch the VPN Client application
by clicking on the VPN icon in your dock or
on the desktop.

- A connection window
will appear. Select the appropriate profile under Connection
Entry (hcvpn for off-campus with library access, hcvpn_no_library_databases for faster off-campus access with no library databases access, or wireless while on-campus).

- Enter the appropriate user ID and password at the login prompt.
- If you are
connecting through a broadband network, enter the VPN user
id (net-username) and the VPN password that was provided to you.
- If you are
connecting to Haverford's network through a wireless computer, enter
your Haverford or Bryn Mawr email username and password. (Brynmawr
users must enter username@brynmawr.edu and their
BMC email password.) Click OK.
- When your password is accepted, you will see a welcome message. Click Continue to complete the login process.
- When the connection
is successful, you will see the VPN icon to the left of the connection
entry. You can minimize the VPN Client application to the dock and use
the network as you would normally. You now have access to all Haverford
resources, email, network servers, and keyserved applications.
- When you have finished
using the campus network, restore the VPN Client window from the dock,
and click on the Disconnect button at the top left
portion of the window to close your VPN connection.
