This course introduces students to scholarship about the exercise and distribution of political power in the U.S. Topics include: presidential leadership; legislative politics; the role of the courts; the bureaucracy; federalism; political parties and the electoral system; interest groups; public opinion; mass media; public policy; and the politics of class, race, and gender.
