This course addresses the question of our relationship to the future, inquiring into the nature of the future and whether it is the kind of thing that might demand an ethical relation. Looking at texts from philosophy and related disciplines, we will examine the nature of time and history, the causal power of the future, and the question of our responsibility for the future.
