Courses: Understanding Contemporary Spain: Its Debates and Transformation (SPANH260A01)

The course explores the social and political questions that have shaped Spain in the post-Franco era, and the language that defines them. We will examine the transition to democracy, nationalism and the shifts in linguistic policy, the 'Basque problem', and the current debates over national identity. Priority given to majors in SPAN & COML; minors in SPAN & COML; concentrators in LAIS
Prerequisites: Spanish 102 or consent
