This course is designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of the contours and politics of the U.S. welfare state - the cluster of policies designed to address poverty and inequality. Throughout the course, we will use the lens of race in understanding these policies and politics.
Prerequisites: Junior and Senior standing or consent.
