Courses: Religion, Sex, and Power (RELGH210A01)

This class will examine the relationships between religion and sex, including sex, sexuality, and gender, examining the ways that these themes are mediated by power. Why are issues relating to sex so fascinating to religious authority? What powerful emotions are evoked at the intersection of religion and sex? And how is religion used to create, resist, and transform power relations surrounding sexed bodies?
Prerequisites: Sophomore standing or higher.
