Courses: American Religious History (RELGH272B01)

Spring 2012

This course will focus on analyzing how historians of religion in America approach the study of religion by analyzing secondary sources & their approaches as well as by reading & analyzing primary sources. One of the central questions we will consider is: "Is the religious historian's task fundamentally different from the 'regular' historian's? How or how not?" Students should leave the course with a good sense of how to craft a research project, how to analyze and use historical sources, and an understanding of some of the challenges historians of all types face.
