Spring 2011

Advanced work in the study of an ethnographic area offered in the department. In addition to ethnographic monographs, course materials will include missionary records, memoirs, and realist fiction where appropriate. The course is intended to develop skills of social and cultural analysis and to deepen the student's understanding of an ethnographic area. The topic for 2008 is modern Turkey.

Prerequisites: One course in an appropriate ethnographic area or consent.
