Analysis of classical and modern theorists selected because of their continuing influence on sociological thought. Among the theoretical conceptions examined are: alienation, bureaucracy, culture, deviance, modernization, power, religion and the sacred, social change, social class, social conflict, social psychology of self, and status. Theorists include: Durkheim, Firestone, Gramsci, Marx, Mead, Mills, and Weber.
