The first semester of a two-semester course focusing on how organisms cope with environmental challenges by investigating the requirements for life at the level of individual cells and multi-cellular organisms, the anatomical and physiological properties of cells, tissues and organ systems, and how these properties allow organisms to interact successfully with their environment. Two three-hour lecture/laboratory sessions per week. Prerequisites: Two semesters of introductory biology and general chemistry.
