New Course: An examination of Spinozas thought, in particular with
respect to the relationship of minds and bodies, the nature of freedom
and the character and aims of a good political community. Most of the
readings will be Spinozas texts, although there will be some
secondary readings as well. Prerequisite: Two semesters of work in
Philosophy or Political Theory or the consent of the instructor.
Cross listed with POLS B373. Enrollment limted to 15 students, with
preference to Political Science and Philosophy majors.
