Courses: Advanced General Chemistry: The Chemical Basis of the Biosphere (CHEMH105B01)
Spring 2010
Three lectures, one laboratory period, and one laboratory planning meeting. A treatment in some depth of the concepts that shape our understanding of the chemical reaction: energetics, dynamics, and structure. The lectures will emphasize applications of chemistry to biology, environmental science, and materials science. The laboratory will involve a student discovery and investigation of unknown compounds and their physical and chemical properties. Students must be free to attend one afternoon of lab AND one recitation time.
