New Course: Drawing on social sciences and historical sources, we
will consider minorities in Europe and compare ethnic conflicts in the
Balkans, Fleminish and Walloon in Belgium, and Catalans and Basques in
Spain. Concerning the politics of indigenous peoples, we will
consider the Sami of Norway, Sweden and Finland and the Gypsies in
Europe. Prerequisite: Any social science course or the permission of
the instructor. Enrollment limited to 25 students. Cross listed with
HIST B259.
