New Course: What are actions? How are they related to metal states
such as beliefs and desires and the physical environment? This course
considers three important contemporary theories of action: Davidsons
causal theory; Anscombes neo-Arisotelian view; and Frankfurts
hierarchical theory. Topics include: free will; the nature of
intentions; an agents knowledge of her actions; and the weakness of
the will. Prerequisite: at least one course in Philosophy.
