This course will focus on the 17th C. thinker Benedict de Spinoza. We will study Spinoza's monumental Ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, natural science, psychology, and eithics. We will be particularly concerned to trace the implications of Spinoza's attack on anthropomorphism and free will.
