This seminar provides an introduction to the issues raised by the
history of technology and media through a comparison of three
so-called media revolutions. We will look at general theories about
the relationships between technology and social change, modernism,
and communication and how they relate to the history of the printing
press, radio, and the Internet. Enrollment limited to 15 students,
with priority given to junior and senior history majors.
