New Course: This seminar analyzes the sociological bases and
ramifications of cultureby exploring (1) the role of social forces
behind the cultural constructions of television programs,
advertisements, journalism, movies, literary works and politics; and
(2) the sociological significance of those cultural constructions as
normative messages pertaining to race relations, gender relations,
class relations and other spheres of social life. Cross listed with
SOCL B305. Enrollment limited to 15 students, with preference given
to Sociology majors and minors. Prerequisite: One social science
course or permission of instructor.
