For Students

The John B. Hurford '60 Center for the Arts and Humanities places at the heart of its mission an array of programs intended to strengthen the humanities and the arts at the College, offering opportunities both on campus and off that allow for intellectual and scholarly engagement inside and outside of the classroom, learning by experience in the arts, and leadership development.

The Center supports scholarship with programs such as Student Seminars, Student Research Assistantships, Research Stipends, and Reading Groups, as well as the publications Body Text and Margin. Concurrently, Summer Humanities Internships, "Dialogues on Art" outings, the E. Clyde Lutton '66 Memorial Fund for the Performing Arts, and the Student Arts Fund enrich students' practical experience in the worlds of the humanities and the arts. The programs for students are, in some cases, modeled on faculty initiatives, while others are simply outstanding learning opportunities that are particularly appropriate for liberal arts college students.
