Through the Service Learning Fund we support individual and group service learning projects occurring domestically and internationally. These integrated experiential learning projects range in scope from an individual independent study project focusing on empowering local Philadelphia youth with cameras to present their perspectives on childhood and life in Norris Square to a group founded by Haverford House fellows and current undergraduates in order to increase their own understanding, campus awareness, and national policy regarding immigration within the United States.

We would like to emphasize that service learning opportunities should be situations where you have a great deal to learn, but where you are also poised to also be of benefit to the community in question. We do not fund simple volunteer projects which do not occur within a greater context or with a structured reflection component. Read more of what a Haverford student has to say about her experience.
