#35 - Hinoki Falsecypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa)
In the rich flora of Japan, the Hinoki Falsecypress has been considered one of the most beautiful trees since ancient times with its dark green, scale-like foliage, small intricately-incised cones and elegant columnar form. Haverford College’s specimen is a Pennsylvania State Champion, the largest known tree of its kind in the state. It measures 75 feet tall and 46 feet wide.
