#2 - Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioica)
While this native tree does not offer conspicuous flowers or fine shade, the Kentucky Coffee Tree is admired for its tall, commanding structure that gives a striking winter silhouette when mature. The thick brown pods contain round beans that colonists ground up as a coffee substitute.
