#10 - Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera)
Native to Arkansas and Texas, this tree was named for the Osage Indians who made strong bows from the orange-colored inner wood. In fall, the grapefruit-size green fruits are hard to miss. Haverford College’s specimen fells decades ago, but continues to grow in its reclining state, creating a perfect playground for children.
