#6 - Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata)
This tough plant grows as a shrub or small tree in a variety of sites including shade. The needles are dark green and flat. Yews are dioecious; both male and female plants are needed to produce the seed which is covered by a red fleshy round form called an aril. This fruit is poisonous to humans.
