#4 - Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum)
Not to be confused with redwoods, Sequoia sempervirens, this giant tree has blue-green scale-like foliage, not needles, and grows in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, not along the West Coast. Although its ultimate height at 300 feet is somewhat shorter than the redwood, the Giant Sequoia can live 3,000 to 4,000 years. Outside of its native range it will reach only about 80 feet tall and 20 feet wide, with a massive trunk of showy red bark.
