#12 - Canada Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)
The Canada Hemlock can be identified by the two silver bands on the undersides of the short, flat needles and the small brown cones dangling from the branch tips. This native hemlock can get up to 80 feet tall and 30 feet wide. In recent years, great stands of Pennsylvania’s State Tree have been decimated by scale and wooly adelgid insects.
